Long time no read

Dear Journal,

I am so sorry I neglected you.  I have traded you in for pure unadulterated laziness.  I debated in the mind whether to come visit you and Yahtzee always won.  Well, not today.  Today is your day Dear Journal.  Today,  I give all thoughts and preconceived notions to you.  So here goes.

What the heck is going on??????  I listen to a host of political shows and I am coming to the conclusion that they know about as much as I do.  Oh the experts and politicians that they have on are truly annoying.  I thought they had the insight,  I thought they could enlighten me.  I have spend days and days listening to commentaries on the economy, the stock market, the housing debacle until I have insight overload.  I can see for myself the stock market is tanking but I do not understand how it can be attributed to mere words.  I hear people talking about being in a foreclosure situation or being under on their mortgage and then cry about "how is this change"  did they ask President Obama was it ok to purchase a home prior to committing to a mortgage above their means?  I think not.  I agree 100% that something has to be done about the housing m arket but don't act like it is owed to you simply because you have defaulted on your loan.  Then the "expert" get on tv and say Obama is not doing enough, or he is doing too much.  He needs to talk with the American people, no he needs to talk with the business sector, no he needs to bring confidence to the market, no he needs to blah, blah, blah.....Where were all these people we were heading into a recession.  No one had a clue that we were in a recession until it was publicized that we were.  Heck,  I knew we were when I was getting less and less bang for my buck.  When I come out of the grocery store with 3 bags and have spent $100 something is wrong.  But Wall Street was getting fatter and fatter and they were not complaining until their greed cause it to spill over to main street and the global markets.

The best two shows on tv today is The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and the Colbert Report.  They are political satire but they tell it like it "tis".  And add a sense of humor to it as well.  So Dear Journal my thoughts and preconceived notions is that all political pundits are idiots.  They have no idea about what is really going in the real world because their mortgages are safe, they have massive savings and it is easier to be a Monday afternoon quarterback then actually out their getting sacked on Sunday.  So to all those who express their penny thoughts I say "SHUT UP, ALREADY".  Let those who truly  know speak, THE AMERICAN PEOPLE!!!!!

Good Day for now Dear Journal, hope are meetings will not be so far and few between in the future!

Idle Mind

Today is just a bland day.  Brain not functioning to produce anything substantive so I will just drone on about what it is to have an idle mind.

They say an idle mind is the devil's workshop, it hinders any real thinking and turns your mind into mush.  Well,  I have a mushy mind.  I want to go to sleep but I am not sleepy.  I want to do something constructive but xnay on the works.  La dee dah,  what am I to do?  No happy thoughts to motivate,  no sad thoughts to cry about.  No thoughts to think about.  No thinking about thoughts.  Free my mushy mind,  I want to think, I want to be an intellect!  Alas,  but the idle mind wins out today,  I submit to the emptiness.

Writer's Block: Been There, Done That

Not a single day.  I have got to keep on moving and if I live one single day over and over eventually the next day will come and it may not have been so great.

What is Change?

Our new president ran on a platform of change.  He said "change is coming to America".  However, when I listen to various media outlets I find that many use the word "change" as a mockery.  For instance,  when President Obama was putting together his cabinet post many of his preferred members were from the Clinton administration and time after time I heard correspondents, political analyst, and bloggers say "where is the change".

Today, President Obama is trying to get a stimulus bill passed.  There is much ado about what's in it, will it work, it will not produce any jobs immediately and blah, blah, blah..........Each time this bill is reviewed there is an outcry for "where is the change".  We have gotten into such a state of pessimism that we cannot embrace anything new and "change" is definitely new!
Webster's definition of change is - a) to make different in some particular. b) to make radically different and my favorite c) to give a different position, course, or direction to.  Permanent and effective change never happens in a day, sometimes it takes years.  Think of those who have changed their eating habits, maybe given up swearing or smoking.  It is an adjustment to the psyche to not only comprehend that something different is taking place but to also accept that something different.

We have become so skeptic of everything (maybe rightly so) that we cannot digest when something right, true and different has hit us.  It's like having crappy relationships for years and then when a good one comes along we cannot grasp this because it is something that we are not use to.  But when we allow our psyche to comprehend and accept that "this one" is alright we slowly begin to like this new way of relationships.  That's change.  Change can be emotional, physical, spiritual, and mental.  Change can be good or bad, change can be good and bad.  Change can bring about ideas, innovations, motivation, resistance, and fear.  Change can pull you up or push you down, change can be inclusive or exclusive.  Change can happen immediately or marinate for years.  Change is about accepting something different as something new.

When  President Obama said "change has come to America" we could take that at it's face value because we have a new president and that in itself is change or we can take a baby step of change and say he is the first Black president or we can be toddlers and say that change is a new way doing business in America.  We can be adolescents of change and see only what he does as president as a agent of change or we can be teenagers of change that grasp what he means by change, accept that he said he was going to change America and leave it at that.  The greatest agent of change is each individual.  That is the adult of change, one who recognizes that every living breathing soul in America has to be an agent of change.  We have to look past yesterday and turn tomorrow into what we want it to be.  We have to begin within our own lives with the simple pleasures that make us who we are.  What is it that you want different in your life?  Change it! (give a different position, course or direction to).  Change for me would be: seeing smiles, respect, genuine care for one another.  How do I give a different position, course or direction to the change I want to see?  I start by being more friendly to everyone that I see, respecting them and having love for my fellow man.  Treating everyone the way I would like to be treated.  It's not easy especially when you may not get the same treatment in return.  But you have to ask yourself---are you doing it for them or for yourself?

Change can turn this country into something that we have always wanted it to be "The Great Melting Pot of Love".  I know it may sound corny but when President Obama talked about being the United state of America more people cheered than when he spoke about jobs, healthcare, etc... That says alot about the heart of the people.

Today, we face many challenges but we cannot expect to see any real progress until "change has come to America".  Forget about being republican, democrat or independent.  No matter what your political affiliation layoffs, foreclosure, and poverty can come to you.  If you have an innovative mind use it, maybe your idea is just right for this country at this time.  If you are a motivator, encourager use what you have---sometimes that right words is all someone may need.  Let's not let the past dictate the way of our future. That's change. Remember that nothing is perfect nor will it ever be but we can push hard to try and get there.  Speak with a mind that says anything is possible regardless whether today brings another storm.  That's change. Remember that rain produces rainbows.

I wrote this journal because I see that America is being flooded with more negativity.  The media believes the negative stories drive up viewership but I think America is tired of all this pessimism, that's why Barack Obama's speeches were so well received.  They inspired us to believe in this thing called change.  Think on the words spoken then to uplift you today.  We know the economy is bad and we know that it is getting worse.  We have leadership in America that wants to turn things around but we have to give them a chance.  We have push the media outlets to produce fair and balanced reporting if that is what we want.  We can also set the tone in Washington by telling our representatives what we want and don't want.  We have to be that voice, we have to be that agent of change then we can proudly say "change has come to America" because America brought about change.
